NUIT DE LA POÉSIE 1991

After recording the Nuits de la poésie in 1970 and 1980, Jean-Pierre Masse and Jean-Claude Labrecque filmed the March 15, 1991 event with pride and admiration. With some 3,000 spectators and numerous cameras in the hall, 20 poets recite their work. Featuring Nicole Brossard, Paul Chamberland, Hélène Dorion, Paul-Marie Lapointe, Yves Préfontaine and Michelle Rossignol, the decennial event is a celebration of the most exciting poetry of the day, and a further expression of a rich and vital cultural identity. By immortalizing the poets’ words, the filmmakers help their writings resonate in the present day.
