Recognized as «the greatest animated film that never was», The Thief and the Cobbler is an animation classic, known for its long, troubled history and ambitiously complex animation, the film was in and out of production for no less than 31 years! Several versions of the film exist, but the original work of the author, dating from 1992, was preserved and restored, thanks to the Academy Film Archive.
At the time of the Thousand and One Nights, the prophecy tells that if the three balls of gold placed at the top of the
minaret of the city were to disappear, it would succumb to destruction. Assuring its protection, when the balls disappear mysteriously, the city of gold is attacked by a one-eyed warrior. Tack the shoemaker and Yum-Yum the princess go on a quest for gold balls and will have to face Zigzag the traitor as well as an unlucky thief ...
