The viola takes the spotlight with Antoine Tamestit, one of its most prestigious defenders. He will be soloist in British composer William Walton’s Viola Concerto, one of a handful of concertos for this instrument. Also on the programme: the shimmering Symphonic Dances by Rachmaninoff, conducted by Edward Gardner whose finesse has made his finesse.
