Jackson Joaojoby is the son of Eusèbe Jaojoby, “the king of salegy,” one of Madagascar’s most famous singers, whom he accompanied on bass: “a crucial role” in this musical genre, which requires “knitting tightly and quickly on rosaries of rhythms” (La Presse). With his multiple musical experiences that has enabled him to explore several styles, this semi-finalist in the 2019 Syli d’or delivers a well honed rock blues, imbued with his love for Malagasy culture.
