ELIZABETH SHEPHERD: FUNKY GRIP, VELVET TOUCH

Montreal singer, pianist and composer Elizabeth Shepherd’s graceful fingers and sinuous voice cover our perceptual field’s horizon. A chiaroscuro poet, she moves with ease from funk to lyricism in an inventive dialogue with her sound siblings. From her first CD, Start to Move (2006), to the recent Montréal, this four-time Juno-nominated souljazz innovator has established herself as a "jazz virtuoso with a pop sensibility" (The Gazette).
