MILES SMILES

Information on the activity

Dates to come

Under the direction of Jean-Nicolas Trottier, who also signs the musical arrangements, this concert pays homage to Miles Davis (1926-1991), Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. The National Jazz Orchestra salutes the sublime moments that these virtuosos created from 1965 to 1968 (Miles Smiles) and updates the magic. So at the head of a quintet toned up by Williams' drums, Davis gradually stepped aside from established formats to craft music without a net. Strong of its listening ability as of its dexterity, the group reaches the summits of subtle invention.

The first part, Jean-Nicolas Trottier and the ONJ tentet will deliver some of the dynamic pieces he published in 2014 under the title Blue Lines.
