Intimate Karaoke, Live at Uterine Concert Hall invites guests to sing their favourite karaoke songs in this performative installation that examines vulnerability through the site of Dayna McLeod’s body. Wearing headphones that contain your voice and requested karaoke song, this mix is wired into her vaginal canal, which acts as a uterine stage for the audience. Other listeners are invited to eavesdrop to your performance through the flesh of her body via stethoscope.

Dayna McLeod is a Montreal performance and video artist. Her work uses humour, and capitalizes on exploiting the body’s social and material conditions using cabaret, duration, single-channel video, and installation practices.

In this work, performers act as tour guides, leading an audience through the space and making short stops on the way to share their instantaneous expertise on the history of objects, their surroundings as well as their own bodies and personal histories. TOUR brings attention to the discomfort that comes along with witnessing facts and reality treated with irreverence. How do the institutions we inhabit every day impose their realities and histories upon us? How might we gesture towards other ways of inhabiting them?

Mardon + Mitsuhashi’s work has taken the forms of durational performance, public installation, set design, printed publications, and projection design. Their choreography works with repetitive action, text, and projection to investigate themes of affective labour, inherited memory, and the body as a site for the choreographies of the political, geographical and technological structures we live within.
