After a long struggle with drug abuse, Toronto resident Anne J. Gibson is now a photographer. Her story is intertwined with that of her neighbourhood, bustling Kensington Market. Amidst alienating urban chaos, Gibson photographs people, often in black and white, from exceptionally close. Candidly, she captures diversity, cultural heritage, relationships, human beings. She also documents places under constant threat of being overtaken by runaway gentrification. Behind the camera for this captivating portrait was Michka Saäl, who died suddenly during postproduction. Her spouse and the rest of the crew completed the film in her memory.
