From May 11 to June 15, 2019.

We are very happy to present Recorded Cargo, an exhibition of new fibre works by Anna Torma. This is the first solo exhibition by the artist with the gallery.

Using embroidery, Anna Torma creates fiber works whose labour, textures and materiality lead the viewer to a world of imagination, and fantasy. Composed with an eclectic combination of fragmented and symbolic elements including animals, plants, scientific descriptions or poetic fragments her fabric pieces allow the viewer to enter a world of rich and complex narrative. Anna Torma’s medium is needlework. Part of post-feminist current (think Judy Chicago) challenging, re-defining skills traditionally associated with craft and women in our Western culture. She creates a fantastical universe, imbued with myth and mystery, populated by creatures both real and imagined. The image of a garden is a reference to the Garden of Eden, as much as to those the artist visited. Thus memory of time and place weaves through her oeuvre.

Reception with the artist on Saturday May 11th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
