This concert, directed by Kent Nagano, covers a rich and eclectic assortment of times and places. After dance suites by Ravel and Bach (including Bach’s Suite in D major, one of the best-known works in the repertoire), the Orchestra turns to South America, with Ginastera’s notoriously virtuosic Violin Concerto and Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras no. 5.
