With the resounding success of their concert at the Astral in 2016, Trio Nomad’s Land is back on stage with a bundle of surprises and musical colours, a show bearing the theme of this 19th edition of the FMA: Songs of mutants, coming to visit gnawa.
On this musical journey intended as a tribute to the great music of the African peoples but also to an East nearer than we think to the Arab world, musicians and singers sculpt a style of music marked by adroitness and delicacy, pure moments of inspiration made of exchanges and communions, on the bold, modern and lively base of Gnawa music.
The group, consisting originally of flutist Guy Pelletier, master guembri player Saïd Mesnaoui and percussionist Bertil Sculrabe, doubles in size on the occasion of the FMA, inviting oud player Nazih Borish, bass player Fraser Hollins and the luminous singer Karen Young.
Trio Nomad’s Land and their guests remind us of an age-old form of music from which emanate significant touches of a modernity open to the world. Come and enjoy the eclectic pieces that these extraordinary musicians have been simmering patiently, like a ceaselessly explored rite. Original compositions, adaptations, revivals and the setting of poems to music are on the menu of this show with influences that are as varied as they are mastered!
