The Goethe-Institut, in collaboration with the Quartier des spectacles Partnership, is proud to present two works by the inventive research and design studio from Berlin: The Constitute, coming to Montreal for their first visit to Canada. The Constitute has created two original works for the Goethe-Institut, one, Zeit-Slice, to be experienced outside by way of an interactive window projection connecting the cities of Berlin and Montreal, and the other, a special VR experience of selected Berlin-neighbourhoods which awaits the public inside only on Nuit blanche.

OLFACTORY VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE OF BERLIN
Have you always wanted to go to Berlin, but haven’t managed yet? Or, have you been longing to get back to this wonderful, creative city? Here is your chance. From 8 pm – 1 am The Constitute will host virtual reality sessions for the public combining images and smells of Berlin. Activity held inside the Goethe-Institut. Free.

MINI-GERMAN COURSES
Are you curious and would like to immerse in the German language, take part in our mini-German-courses for beginners (duration: 30 minutes). Be surprised how quickly you'll be able to interact in German! 4 courses in total, the first starting around 8:30 p.m.

3 ESSENTIAL BERLIN FILMS

8:15 pm : B-Movie (Jörg A.Hoppe, Klaus Maeck & Heiko Lange, 2015): Music, art and chaos in the wild West Berlin of the 1980s.

10 pm : Sonnenallee (Leander Haußmann, 1998/99): In his cinematic debut, former theatre director Leander Haussmann attempts to capture the prevailing mood of 1970s East Berlin.

11:30 pm : Berlin, Symphony of a Great City (Walther Ruttmann, 1927): This landmark, silent film, showing us a collage of sights and sounds from a day in Berlin in 1927, has become a precious historical document of archival footage.
