Director/co-screenwriter Guillaume Canet casts himself and wife Marion Cotillard as co-stars in a self-deprecating celebrity satire in which they retain their own names (as do rocker Johnny Hallyday and others).Canet suffers a mild midlife crisis when his young and beautiful co-star in a movie he’s shooting criticizes him in an interview for not being “rock ‘n roll” enough for her generation. He tries to get some sympathy from Cotillard but she’s too busy studying Quebecois French for her role in a Xavier Dolan movie! It’s great comedy, and despite the unusual solution he finds to counter his “over-the-hill” status at the age of 43, Canet gets the last laugh...
