VERY FRUSTRATING MEXICAN REMOVAL

VERY FRUSTRATING MEXICAN REMOVAL

Information on the activity

Dates to come

Through an immersive VR experience using verbatim theatre practices, Very Frustrating Mexican Removal aims to sensitize us to the mistreatment of migrants detained at the Canadian border. More specifically, it focuses on Lucia Vega Jimenez, a Mexican immigrant who died in 2013 while being held in a Canada Border Services Agency facility in conditions that remain murky. Based on evidence collected by the Forensic Architecture collective, investigation reports and videos documenting the architecture of detention centres, coupled with the story of Lucia’s experience, creator Fusun Uzun carefully constructs a heartbreaking portrait of a harsh reality.
