.Desperately in need of cash, an Israeli father-to-be decides to bottle
and sell “holy air” to religious tourists. In his second feature, Shady
Srour examines the everyday life of a modern, progressive family
living on the world’s most hallowed ground. Catholics, Muslims and
Jews live cheek-by-jowl in a city where the film’s protagonist (played
by Srour himself) struggles to find meaning in his existence. A tale of
survival and ideology, Holy Air captures the absurdity of the human
comedy with finesse, poetry and a finely honed sense of satire.
