Somber Tides is a cry of the species, a surge of survival in the face of the elements. A final breath of life before being swept away by the Earth, or perhaps a fierce struggle to anchor oneself there, against all odds. Born on the glaciers of the St. Lawrence River, in the middle of a snowstorm, the film highlights three actors who embody on screen the fragility and resilience of our humanity. Since its release, the short film Somber Tides has captured the imagination, winning the Philippe Belley Prize at the REGARD Festival, as well as 14 major awards in Quebec and internationally, in addition to having been screened around the world, in more than 20 countries. From October 1st to 19th, experience this moving work, screened every hour, starting at 7 p.m., on the façade of the Wilder Building in Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles. A central element of the media arts installation L’Effet Marée Noire, the film unfolds in resonance with the show and the floor installation, for an immersive experience where art and dance become memory and resistance.
