St James is proud to welcome celebrated organist COLIN ANDREWS, who will perform a programme of Canadian repertoire, contributing to the church's vision of promoting our, Canadian music. We aim to highlight the voices and creativity of Canadian composers, fostering national identity and pride. Showcasing this repertoire encourages innovation within the organ tradition and supports living composers. It also broadens audiences' musical perspectives, ensuring diverse representation in concert programming. Colin Andrews, a celebrated English organist, began his musical career at eighteen and has gained international recognition for his artistry and versatility. Born in Bristol, he studied under notable teachers including Garth Benson, Douglas Hawkridge, Margaret McDonald, Lionel Rogg, and Dame Gillian Weir. A prizewinner at the 1980 and 1982 Dublin International Organ Competitions, Andrews was awarded an Associateship by the Royal Academy of Music in 1993 for his distinguished career. Notably, he is one of only four organists worldwide to record Olivier Messiaen’s complete organ works.Andrews has toured extensively, appeared on global media, and recorded for the BBC. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
