In her exhibition L’étroite fenêtre de nos clavicules, Élisabeth Perrault takes up the mythical and organic figure of the Rat king — a phenomenon in which several rats find themselves tied together by their tails in an inextricable knot — to explore human social ties. Through this organic metaphor, she reveals the complexity and paradoxes of social bonds: at once a source of vitality, cooperation and belonging, but also sometimes of constraints, exhaustion and isolation. Through monumental sculptures combining raw and organic materials, Perrault questions the balance between the need for connection and the need for autonomy, offering a poetic and intimate look at the human condition, caught between collective sharing and inner solitude. - Text by Maude Raymond
