Angela Schanelec Revealed

One of the roles of the Cinémathèque québécoise’s programming is to showcase the ongoing development of a cinematic body of work. This is the case with German filmmaker Angela Schanelec, whose films stretch back over three decades. Her refined directing style and sense of editing demonstrate her ability to let drama simmer, delicately and without exaggeration. Her greatest virtuosity is undoubtedly her ability to conceal the complexity of her art. She won the Silver Best for Best Director at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival.
