STARE

AN ACCOMPLISHED MONTREAL ARTIST WHOSE INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION IS EXPLAINED BY THE INDISPUTABLE QUALITY OF HIS WORK

Coming from the traditional school of style writing graffiti – of which he is still very fond – he has transcended the genre and built a bridge between graffiti and mural painting. As an innovative artist always in search of new approaches, STARE takes ownership of the public space by painting murals that break the aesthetic boundaries of style writing – while remaining fateful to its origins – and that integrate with their surroundings and enrich the existing architecture.

STARE is a versatile artist who also creates sculptural works using an approach he describes as more aesthetic.

His art’s electrifying energy is the result of a savvy blend of elaborate structure edgy lines and daring colours.

Artist Biography

Practising an “aerosol art,” Stare is recognized for his versatile and innovative style. The chemistry between his bold colour schemes and electrifying effects is founded on his meticulous calligraphy, as imposing as it is graceful. With his own inimitable style and unique approach to appropriating space, he is literally leaving his mark on Montreal’s urban landscape.

An artist of the written word active in every discipline of this cutting-edge art form, Stare became a professional muralist early on, without however giving up his passion for graffiti art or its practice. He took part in executing several majestic murals that are now counted among the city’s historical monuments. Defying traditional techniques and formats, Stare’s murals are designed to integrate with the surrounding environment while respecting, incorporating and ultimately enriching the existing architecture.

Stare has left his mark on several large cities and even brings his art to several countries that have little or no familiarity with it. With over 20 years of devoted practice and a wealth of experience, he has forged a powerful aesthetic that stands the test of time and connects with a vast audience.

Constantly exploring and always looking for new approaches, Stare’s style is in constant evolution. He continues to push back the limits with his latest creations, sharing his time between executing large murals and exhibiting in galleries.
