For this first edition of the new winter and sports event in the heart of Montreal, the Quartier Latin host a series of free, accessible activities, starting in grand style with a skiing and snowboarding competition on Saint-Denis Street! A special adrenaline-charged program will be available for people of all ages who want to get some exercise and have fun during break week.

The event, produced by the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, is made possible by the financial support of the borough of Ville-Marie, Tourisme Montréal and the Gouvernement du Québec, with the collaboration of SDC du Quartier Latin and the Ville de Montréal. The event is part of the Moments lumineux du cœur de l'île initiative, which enriches the winter experience downtown.

The Program

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING COMPETITION

The creators of the JACKALOPE action-sports festival, which has put on breathtaking displays for Montrealers each year for the last decade, with skateboarding, climbing and BASE jumping competitions, are back with a new and equally bold urban concept. One hundred male and female athletes will square off for the chance to win a $20,000 prize in the judged competition, with points awarded for skill and style. The urban competition course, custom-made for the event, will put competitors to the test as they slide downhill in an electric atmosphere full of dazzling lights and festive sounds. Because watching the competition is just as exciting as competing, a large audience is expected. This competition is an original idea by TRIBU, realized in collaboration with White Claw.

APIK ACTIVITIES

By bringing the mountain spirit to the city, Saint-Denis Street in the Quartier Latin will become a snow park where snowboarding and snowskating enthusiasts can join ja Jam or simply amuse themselves on the training hill from March 2 to 5. Experienced monitors will be available to help participants if needed. Snowboarders must bring their own equipment, while snowskates will be available on-site.

APIK is an unprecedented playground that will also feature a thrilling obstacle course.

The merchants of the Quartier Latin will help set the mood with après-ski for all! And, for the grand opening of APIK on February 25, l’Abreuvoir Bar & Terrasse will host an after-party on its heated terrasse, presented in collaboration with White Claw, where the athletes in the competition will be joined by anyone who wants to be part of the fun.
