THE RECOGNITION PRIZE, CELEBRATE THE ARTISTS AND CULTURAL WORKERS

Each year, the Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles pays tribute to artists, craftspeople and professionals whose careers have been closely linked to the Quartier with its recognition prize. We pay tribute to three types of remarkable types of worker in the cultural heart of the metropolis - artists, cultural workers and historical figures - in an architectural video projection, a signature artistic practice of the Quartier des Spectacles.

The recognition prize takes the form of a tribute video projection, a signature practice of the Partnership and the Quartier, to artistically illustrate, through an original work of art, the career paths of remarkable people, and thus bring them to the attention of a wide audience of Montrealers and visitors alike. Each year, a call for nominations is issued to Partnership members. Recipients are selected by a jury on the basis of criteria such as the artist's or professional's significant contribution to the Quartier des spectacles, the quality of the approach or professional achievements, and the impact of the project.

2023, FIRST RECOGNITION PRIZE

For the 20th anniversary of the Quartier, in 2023, the first Quartier des spectacles recognition prize was presented. The video-projection 20 ans d'audace et de culture (20 years of audacity and culture) highlights 20 portraits of 25 remarkable personalities, with a special mention for Yvon Deschamps' lifetime achievement. It was created by multidisciplinary artist Elizabeth Laferrière.
