A dozen young women from Montreal’s visual arts community – all from various fields: tattooing, street art, embroidery, etc. – gather together to offer the fruit of their creativity.
The mandate of E(É)S was to have women react visually to original poetic texts. They were given complete freedom of interpretation. Each illustrator was first called upon to represent a text personally attributed to them. They then interpreted a second and common text, depicting the various perspectives possible from a same and single point of departure.

Wishing to generate a dialogue between writing and drawing, the É(E)S project aims to pay tribute to the power of creative feminine association as well as to the potential of genre hybridization.
