Triennale québécoise

Articulated Intersect. Relational Architecture 18

For a limited time, the Montreal-based artist of Mexican origin Rafael Lozano-Hemmer will display a remarkable work of art at the Place des Festivals, as part of La Triennale québécoise 2011. It’s the first time that this artist, known around the world for this type of intervention, has created a work on such a large scale here in Montreal.

Its apparatus consists of eighteen 10,000-watt searchlights controlled by six levers: one set of three levers near De Maisonneuve Boulevard, the other near Sainte-Catherine Street. The powerful beams they send can be seen up to fifteen kilometres away. Working together at the controls, members of the public will be able to carve sculptures of light in the skies over Montreal.

Come and help create marvelous poetry in light, in the sky!
