The greenest building in Canada,
coming soon to the Quartier des spectacles
The model of the new Maison du développement durable, to be built next to the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, was unveiled on November 5.
The Maison, located at the corner of the streets Sainte-Catherine and Clark, will house shops, a café, conference rooms and other facilities for seven organizations: the Centre de la petite enfance Petit réseau, the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Montréal, ENvironnement JEUnesse, Équiterre, Option Consommateurs, the Regroupement des services Éco-quartier and Unisféra. Construction will begin winter 2009, and be finished by spring 2010.
The building, the second in Canada to obtain the strictest sustainable building certification (LEED Platinum), will significantly reinforce the built fabric along Sainte-Catherine.
