The Lighting Plan pilot project: An innovative and creative success

Charles Lapointe, president of the Quartier des spectacles Partnership, and Benoit Labonté, member of the Executive Committee of the City of Montreal, are proud to announce the completion of the first phase of the pilot project for the Lighting Plan, which aims to highlight the performance halls and other cultural sites in the area. The facades of five performance halls situated around the "intersection of the Mains" at Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Laurent boulevards will be permanently illuminated and identified with the colors of the Quartier des spectacles.
The first phase of the full project will light the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Metropolis, Club Soda, the Monument-National and the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT]. Each hall has actively worked with designers to develop an original concept to permanently enhance each building, using new technologies in the hopes of saving energy and achieving sustainable development. This first phase of the pilot project will be active in enough time to embellish the centre of the Quartier des spectacles for the 1st World Outgames. Some of these five halls will be adding additional elements to their concept in the coming weeks.
The five buildings have also received a luminous common signature, conceived by Photonic Dreams with the artistic direction of Intégral Ruedi Baur and Intégral Jean Beaudoin and built by LEIG Lighting.
The pilot project has been executed thanks to a $450,000 contribution from the City of Montreal, followed by a budget of $50,000 from the Quartier des spectacles Partnership.
Montrealers and tourists alike are therefore invited to discover, during the warm nights of the summer, five buildings as they've never seen them before, starting on July 27.
