Festival International Nuits d'Afrique
Information on the activity
July 11, 2018 to July 23, 2018
The Festival International Nuits d’Afrique is back in Montreal, turning the city into a memorable international crossroads of world music from July 11 to 23! Definitely modern, this 31th edition is meant to be representative of the new trends that blow on world music, increasingly hybrid and without borders. A powerful voice for artistic and cultural diversity and supported by this fresh wind, the Festival will again provide the setting for exciting and moving musical projects. More than 700 artists from 35 countries are expected to spice up Montréal during thirteen days. Eight series of shows, presented in different venues (July 11 to 23) and on the outdoor scene (July 18 to 23) will light up all current trends in world music. A few names at this 31st edition: the famous Malian couple Amadou and Mariam at the Festival’s official opening concert; Seun Kuti, the great Afro-beat prince and worthy heir to his father, Fela Kuti; French soul master Ben l’Oncle Soul; and the Mexican tornado of Las Cafeteras.
