THE QUARTIER DES SPECTACLES PARTNERSHIP WISHES TO HOST ONE OR MORE ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE FOR THE NAINS DE GAMELIN (GAMELIN GNOMES) PROJECT. THE ARTIST(S) SELECTED FOR THIS PROJECT WILL IMAGINE, CREATE AND ANIMATE A GROUP OF GARDEN GNOMES CUSTOM-DESIGNED FOR THE PARTICULAR WORLD OF LES JARDINS GAMELIN.
By issuing this call for applicants, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership seeks to give Les Jardins Gamelin a bold and surprising narrative theme and a powerful and original new signature element. The garden gnomes must become, through their stories, active, surprising and endearing residents of Les Jardins Gamelin.
The winning project will come to life with the opening of Les Jardins Gamelin on May 17, 2018, and run until the Jardins close on September 30, 2018. The winning project will have a maximum budget of $20,000 plus taxes. A reasonable sum, enabling the creation of high-quality, durable, low-maintenance gnomes meeting the required specifications, must be allocated for design and production.
The jury will choose the finalists, who will be invited to give a presentation for a final selection session on March 2, 2018.
