The City of Montreal has agreed to make an annual contribution of $650,000 to the Quartier des spectacles Partnership in 2008, 2009 and 2010. This effort demonstrates the City’s wish to make the Quartier des spectacles a creative, vibrant and coherent neighbourhood.
Of the annual funding, $150,000 will go to support the Partnership’s ongoing activities and $500,000 will go to the realization of the Lighting Plan. The executive committee of the City of Montreal has, furthermore, emphasized the international profile which the Lighting Plan can give the Quartier des spectacles, as well as its significance for the identity of the neighbourhood.
A continuous financial contribution for the next three years gives the Partnership a solid foundation to move forward and partially complete the Lighting Plan. The Partnership, for its part, is concentrating on securing private sponsors, and creating a “Partner’s Club” to bring together the organizations that help bring the Lighting Plan to fruition.
