December 4, 2006

Main text of post

On Wednesday, November 29, the executive committee of the City of Montreal approved an envelope of $55 million

for the development of the Quartier des spectacles, as part of the three-year capital program (programme triennal d'immobilisations or PTI). This announcement is the capstone on three years of effort and coordination on the part of the Partnership, and makes 2007 look to be a very promising year.

The Quartier des spectacles will, therefore, soon see very real projects in its public spaces, in keeping with the development vision that has guided the project since its beginning.

For the members of the Quartier des spectacles Partnership, it is still essential to ensure the continued presence of the major events and festivals that have brought life to downtown for over 25 years, in order to ensure Montreal's branding on an international level as well as a growing cultural metropolis.
