Sylvia Plath ~ Benjamin Britten
With Charlotte Rampling and Sonia Wieder-Atherton
A unique literary concert. A one-of-a-kind encounter entwining works by the American author Sylvia Plath and the British composer Benjamin Britten. Plath’s poems resonate with actress Charlotte Rampling’s deep and sensual voice, revealing infinite colours, contrasts, and an unexpected sense of humour. Cellist Sonia Wieder-Atherton plays excerpts of Britten’s Cello Suites, originally composed for the legendary Rostropovitch. Britten’s powerful and free compositions converse with Plath’s poetry in an organic yet penetrating way. An evening of music and text, one after the other, one with the other. A moment of rare beauty offered by two exceptional artists.
