IDLE NO MORE PART 2: INDIGENIZING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

The wave of Indigenous music and presence in the mainstream is swelling in Canada and North America. With the Idle No More movement, TRC (Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada) report and the increased focus on Indigenous issues, the Indigenous music scene has evolved to great acclaim. This session will take a look at the maturity of the Indigenous music community and sophistication in emerging music that embraces the convergence of traditional aesthetics and modern creativity with poignant lyrics that reflect history in the making.
