Beaux Dégâts tries to make a parallel between the reality of street artists and the Fine Arts community. It exists to bring back what has long been ignored by art institutions: the importance of community, sharing, accessibility and uniqueness.
For over two hours, 6 teams of artists improvise 8ft X 8ft murals over unknown themes, given the same night. Each team has to search for visual references to create an artwork directly in front of the public. All mediums are allowed, except spray paint. During the evening, the public votes for its favorite mural using their empty Pabst beer can. At the end of the night, the team that collects the most cans wins the right to paint over the other teams’ artwork if they wish.
