The Society for Arts and Technology will have a new look, thanks to over $2 million in funding from the provincial government.

The renovation work, which will be completed in July 2008, includes the construction of six supplementary workshops and three specialized studios. Part of the roof of the new building will itself be built as a place of creation and exhibition, the Satosphere, while the rest of the roof will be garden. On the outside, the façade of the new building will be made of Stanstead granite, and the five entrances to the SAT will be consolidated into one.

Announced by Culture Minister Christine St-Pierre, this financial aid is the first given out as part of the Plan québécois des infrastructures, which will dedicate $885 million to cultural development over five years. This new development for the SAT will also help reinforce the “intersection of the Mains”.
